Clint et moi

Clint et moi

This book is a declaration of love for Clint Eastwood from a specialist of cinema. Through Clint and the decoding of his persona, the author turns auto-biographer.

Eric Libiot has always been crazy about Clint Eastwood.  Crazy meaning he is as full of admiration of the man as he is exasperated.  He adores the actor but a lot less the conservative Republican.  He is deeply impressed with the man but not the moralistic patriot.
In the name of this passion, Eric Libiot, eminent cinephile, presents Clint Eastwood as he sees him.  And, as a deeply modest man, Libiot couldn’t let this opportunity go by to also speak about himself.   His childhood in Brittany with a father who was a huge movie fan himself and who sometimes dressed up as Clint Eastwood in his Sergio Leone period, complete with hat, poncho and cigar.  Then his adolescence in Paris where he obsessively attended the movie theater and discovered all the different facets of Clint : He was pro-gun but anti-war; a reactionary who made a movie about an old reactionary saving immigrants… In adulthood Libiot becomes an accomplished journalist who meets Clint Eastwood in person six times.  A wandering and instructive promenade; a self-portrait and a lesson in cinema, "Clint et moi" renews the literary genre of the declaration of love.
Éric Libiot aime Clint Eastwood depuis toujours.
